HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It is still the first week of the new year! How are you doing on those new year resolutions? Some of you may have started and are still going strong. Some may have faltered already. Yet some may say why bother!
I was one to set new year resolutions but not so much anymore. As a child of God, I am realizing that it isn’t about starting new in the new year as is it realizing that with the Lord everyday is made new. Everyday is a chance to start over, do better, and focus more on Christ.
He tells us in Lamentations 3:22-33 that His mercies are new every morning and that His compassions fail not.
Unfortunately, you may find yourself beating yourself up for the mistakes you make and the failures you stumble over. What is the resolution to this? It is to remember that you as human do make mistakes, have failures, or fall into sin. But God gives mercy every day. If you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive your sins (1 John 1:9).
Are you a child of God? Then you should be resolved to do one thing? To remember that you are!
The Bible speaks of newness! But usually it isn’t the newness people seek. If you claim Christ, you can claim this newness!
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
Being raised in baptism, signifying the resurrection of Christ,
we through Him can walk in a better way.
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. 1 Corinthians 5:7
Purge out or get rid of any sin or behavior that is causing you not to grow.
Disobedience stunts spiritual growth.
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4;16
You are in a new relationship with Christ, the flesh will never be perfect,
but we have a confidence that the new man, Christ in us, is being renewed daily.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
So many times people get stuck in the past. God has forgiven!
Be thankful you have been made new!
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:24
Even though you are saved, it is still your responsibility to put on the new man,
to walk in the ways of the LORD. He helps you do this by the power of
the Holy Spirit.
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Colossians 3:10
You are renewed and changed by growing in the
knowledge of the Lord, by His Word.
And at the end of this age…
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Revelation 21:5
What a glorious time this will be for those who belong to Christ.
This world is short, but you will be with him for eternity.
As you walk through this new year, may you be reminded often that you are a child of God and in Him are all things new, everyday!
God Bless,
